Les organisations de la société civile palestinienne soussignées dénoncent et rejettent avec véhémence la déclaration honteuse faite par la présidente de la Commission européenne, dans laquelle elle a célébré le jour de l’“ indépendance ” d’Israël en utilisant des tropes racistes anti-palestiniens et en niant l’histoire palestinienne et les atrocités de la Nakba. Ces remarques s’écartent des principes politiques et diplomatiques de base et favorisent sans vergogne l’État occupant, qui se livre à la persécution, à l’agression et au terrorisme d’État dans le cadre du régime israélien contre le peuple palestinien.
Dans son discours, Ursula von der Leyen a affirmé qu’Israël avait fait “fleurir le désert”, utilisant un cliché colonial qui repeint en vert le projet colonial d’Israël, son déplacement du peuple palestinien autochtone et la confiscation illégale de ses terres. Nous rejetons également l’utilisation par Mme von der Leyen de références bibliques qui s’alignent sur le récit de l’occupant israélien, lequel efface le peuple palestinien et nie ses racines profondes dans la terre et son droit inaliénable à l’autodétermination et à l’indépendance nationale dans son État naturel. Cela constitue le fondement de la tristement fameuse “loi sur l’État-nation” raciste qu’Israël utilise aujourd’hui pour asseoir la colonisation et l’annexion complète du territoire palestinien occupé depuis 1967, Jérusalem inclus.
Les horribles événements de la Nakba palestinienne qui ont ouvert la voie à la fondation d’Israël, notamment le déplacement de plus de 750 000 Palestiniens, qui restent à ce jour des réfugiés, la destruction de centaines de villages et de villes palestiniens et des dizaines de massacres, continuent de se manifester aujourd’hui de différentes manières, mais avec le même objectif global de déplacer le peuple palestinien autochtone et de le remplacer par des Israéliens juifs dans toute la Palestine historique, par le biais d’un nettoyage ethnique.
L’incapacité de l’Union européenne à demander des comptes à Israël pour ses innombrables crimes et violations des droits humains, y compris le crime contre l’humanité qu’est l’apartheid, alimente la culture de l’impunité dont jouit Israël dans l’escalade de son agression contre le peuple palestinien et sa terre, en particulier sous l’égide du nouveau gouvernement israélien extrémiste. Au lieu de contribuer à mettre fin aux violations israéliennes et à rendre la justice tant attendue à la Palestine, l’UE continue de récompenser Israël, la puissance occupante, en lui apportant davantage de soutien et de coopération sur les plans politique, économique et technologique.
Nous demandons instamment à l’Union européenne d’assumer ses responsabilités en s’abstenant de tenir des propos aussi incendiaires et répréhensibles et d’appliquer une politique de deux poids, deux mesures dans le traitement des questions liées aux droits légitimes du peuple palestinien, tels qu’ils sont garantis par toutes les lois et tous les accords internationaux pertinents. Nous appelons les élus européens à rassembler le courage et la volonté politique nécessaires pour faire pression sur Israël afin qu’il respecte le droit international en le tenant pour responsable par des mesures concrètes et efficaces qui s’alignent sur les lois existantes de l’Union européenne et sur les obligations et principes internationaux.
Enfin, nous remercions nos amis et alliés à travers l’Europe de s’être exprimés et d’avoir rejeté ce racisme anti-palestinien manifeste, et nous les exhortons à demander des comptes à leurs représentants. Comme toutes les autres formes de haine et de discrimination, la palestinophobie ne doit pas être tolérée.
